As it reportedly did last year, we understand the CFPB is again this year soliciting consumer complaints through the use of a stuffer sent with IRS refund checks mailed to consumers.

The stuffer indicates that it is “introducing the CFPB” as the “new federal agency working to make consumer financial products and services fair and transparent for you and your family.” In addition to inviting consumers to visit the CFPB’s “Ask CFPB” feature on its web site, the stuffer also invites consumers to “file a free complaint” on the CFPB’s web site or by calling the CFPB.

It seems that instead of complaints about consumer financial products and services, the CFPB could find itself hearing from consumers who are unhappy with the amount of their IRS refunds.
