The vote in the Senate Banking Committee today on Rohit Chopra’s nomination to serve as CFPB Director resulted in a 12-12 tie.

The tied vote means that the nomination now moves to the Senate floor without a recommendation by the Senate Banking Committee.  Nevertheless, the full Senate is expected to confirm the nomination, with Vice-President Harris casting the deciding vote if there is a 50-50 tie.  Many observers believe that Mr. Chopra will be confirmed by the full Senate by the end of this month.
