The United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) announced in a January 8th news release that it is awarding $71,430 to the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (“ADEQ”).

The award is stated to be provided to the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (“CERCLA”) to support assessment and management at contaminated sites.

EPA further states:

The funds will help ADEQ conduct preliminary assessments and site investigations and support management and cleanup activities at potential Superfund sites, as well as sites already on the National Priorities List. The administrative, programmatic and financial management functions funded by this grant ensure ADEQ continues to clean up contaminated sites found to pose hazards to human health.
