I attended the CREW National Convention in Bellevue, Washington earlier this month. This year’s convention was kicked off by Carla Harris, Vice Chairman of Morgan Stanley, who focused her discussion on how best to position yourself for career advancement, including embodying the values needed to achieve career success and changing others’ perceptions of you to reflect those values. The convention closed with keynote speaker former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who inspired the crowd with her advice, witty charm and reflections on her career.
CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) is a national organization that influences the success of the commercial real estate industry by advancing the achievements of women. CREW is comprised of 70 local chapters across the United States and Canada with its total membership nearing 10,000 members. CREW promotes networking among its local chapters, real estate education and leadership skill development and is an industry leader in the research of topics that impact women in commercial real estate. Its most recent white paper, Working with Executive Recruiters, was released in July 2015.
Miles & Stockbridge supports the leadership and diversity initiatives of CREW by sponsoring two CREW local chapters, CREW Baltimore and CREW Maryland Suburban, within which it has lawyers in leadership roles.
