Why this is important: Effective policy making involves more than just proposing innovative programs. It requires the programs are justified scientifically and are an efficient use of taxpayer funds. As proposed, the "Green New Deal" does not satisfy either of these two requirements. A "zero carbon economy" is simply not possible given this country's energy and transportation needs....
