As part of Fairfax County’s re-adoption of zMod, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors authorized a study of its data center regulations. The authorization responds to citizen comments regarding environmental impacts and by-right approvals in heavy industrial districts. The board directed its staff to report back on the data center study by the end of 2023.

For details, see the full text of the Board of Supervisors’ motion.
