Fairfax County planners recently released a staff report that recommends changes to decades-old noise policies. Among other things, as proposed, new residential uses could be considered in the 60 and 65 day-night average sound level (DNL) airport noise contours, subject to noise mitigation strategies.

The public hearing before the Planning Commission is May 18, 2022, and the Board of Supervisors could consider the matter as soon as June 28, 2022.
