Approximately 3,000 customers of the Fort Worth Water Department were notified recently that their credit card information may have been compromised as a result of a data breach suffered by its vendor, Click2Gov [view related post].

Customers who pay their bill by phone or in person were not affected, nor were customers who have automatic recurring payments to the Water Department. Those affected were those who made a one-time payment to the Water Department with a credit card between August 27 and October 23, 2019. The breach occurred when an unauthorized individual inserted code into the payment software and stole the information while customers were logged in and paying their bills.
