FTC Sues 7-Eleven for Acquisition Allegedly Violating Consent Order

  • The FTC brought a lawsuit against 7-Eleven, Inc. and its parent company (together, “7-Eleven”) for allegedly violating an FTC consent order by acquiring a fuel outlet without providing prior notice to the Commission.
  • According to the complaint, 7-Eleven had previously entered a consent order with the FTC to resolve allegations that it would violate antitrust laws by acquiring approximately 1,100 retail fuel outlets with attached convenience stores, and 7-Eleven allegedly violated the terms of that consent order by acquiring a fuel outlet in Florida that the consent order prohibited it from acquiring without providing prior notice.
  • The FTC seeks civil penalties, declaratory and injunctive relief, and costs, among other relief.
