- Excerpt from Obama Administration Delays Employer Mandate One Year:

The Obama Administration announced it is delaying the Affordable Care Act’s employer coverage mandate to 2015. The ACA requires large employers to provide health insurance coverage to their employees or pay a penalty beginning in 2014. The Department of the Treasury stated that formal guidance would be released within the next week. The employer mandate is one of the foundations of the ACA’s expanded health coverage provisions. The health insurance exchanges are expected to continue to be open for enrollment on October 1, and the individual mandate likewise is unaffected by this announcement.
