Q: What can I ask about in a pre-employment physical?

A: The ADA requires that any substantive health inquiry happen post contingent offer. You are limited to items that are relevant to job performance. If the job will never require the employee to lift 75 pounds, you probably don't need to ask if the prospective employee can lift 75 pounds. You want to avoid asking about inherited conditions or family history as this is likely to violate GINA.
