Indonesia Has Joined The Madrid Protocol, Effective January 2, 2018

On October 2, 2017, Indonesia acceded to the Madrid Protocol which will enter into force with respect to Indonesia on January 2, 2018, allowing:
• Holders of existing International Registrations can file a Subsequent Designation to Indonesia, which will extend trademark protection to this country; and
• Indonesian entities may use the Madrid System to file an International Trademark Application and designate the other member states; and
• Entities not located in Indonesia will be able to designate Indonesia when they file an International Trademark Application on or after January 2, 2018.
