On September 27, 2023, the Department of Homeland Security and Department of State announced the designation of Israel into the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). The VWP allows citizens and nationals from, now, 41 designated countries to travel to the U.S. for business or tourism. These individuals apply for travel authorization through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). Approved applications through ESTA are generally valid for two years, allowing multiple 90-day entries during that two year period. The 90-day admission under the VWP can generally not be extended, and does not allow for U.S.-based work or employment. A full list of designated countries can be found here.

The Department of Homeland Security and Department of State expect that Israelis will be able to apply for travel authorization via ESTA by November 30, 2023. Those with valid B-1 or B-2 visas may continue to enter the U.S. using those visas. Applications can be submitted online or through the “ESTA Mobile” app.
