On November 17, 2020, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors determined at a closed meeting that it would be setting a 10pm curfew for restaurants, bars, breweries, wineries and non-essential retail businesses. These businesses will not be allowed to be open to the public for entry from 10pm to 6am. At this point it is unclear whether this restriction will also apply to takeout and delivery options.

The LA Times and Daily News reported that restaurants, breweries and wineries operating outdoors will be limited to 50% maximum outdoor capacity. Non-essential indoor businesses in Los Angeles County (including retail stores, offices and personal care services) will be limited to a 25% maximum capacity. Personal care establishments, such as nail and hair salons, will be required to serve customers only by appointment and will be banned from providing any services that require customers to remove their masks. Additionally, the County has set a cap of 15 people maximum at outdoor social gatherings, and no more than three households at any gathering.

Supervisor Sheila Kuehl tweeted about the new restrictions: “COVID-19 cases are surging across LA County, rapidly approaching the all-time high late July numbers. With the recent vaccine news, we can see the light at the end of this tunnel -- but until then, we need to double down and do our part to #SlowTheSpread.”

More details on the order are expected to be released from the Department of Public Health and the Board of Supervisors in the next few days.  New developments will be posted here.
