Avoiding Common Mistakes in Federal Construction Contracting: A Three-Part Webinar Series

Contracting with the federal government on construction projects is full of traps for the unsuspecting, and the potential rewards are accompanied by commensurate risks. Aside from preparing a bid or proposal that is competitive, it is critical for contractors to understand the agency’s procedures as well as the overriding federal procurement process. Unwary contractors, particularly those who lack federal contracting experience, are often surprised by the intricacies of federal solicitations and the manner in which bids and proposals are evaluated. After contract award, the submittal of a quality control plan, safety plan, initial schedule, and myriad other required pre-construction submissions often results in project delays when the contractor fails to understand agency requirements. In addition, once a project is underway, contractors must know how to protect their rights when a request for an equitable adjustment, or a formal claim, is necessary. Although federal contracting can be quite rewarding, success often depends upon an understanding of the process and an ability to make adjustments when things go wrong.

In this three-part webinar series, Cohen Seglias’ Government Contracting Group will address common pitfalls that contractors face and the mistakes they frequently make during three stages of the federal contracting process: bid and proposal preparation; project performance; and REA, claim and appeal process.

These webinars will be presented by experienced federal construction attorneys who have represented the government and private contractors, both nationally and internationally. Our team helps federal construction contractors recognize the issues and learn how to avoid the pitfalls.
