The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) issued a November 12th news release stating that it was proposing to assess penalties to Marc Jones Construction LLC (“MJC”) for alleged violations of federal workplace safety requirements.

OSHA describes MJC (operating as Sunpro Solar) as a residential solar panel installation contractor.

MJC is stated to have been cited for a repeat violation after inspectors found workers exposed to falls. Additional alleged violations include:

  • Allowing workers to climb up and down extension ladders while carrying loads that could have caused them to fall.
  • Failing to provide fall protection training to employees

OSHA is proposing to assess $160,913 in penalties for the alleged violations.

The company has 15 days from receipt of the citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA’s Area Director, or contest the findings before the Independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
