Which works better, Marketing or Sales? Communications or Business Development? Which is a better company - IBM or Nike?

To generate revenue, Marketing must integrate with a firm's rainmakers. Marketing without effective Sales is a strategy with no one to implement it. Sales without effective Marketing is rainmakers trying to sell the services of a firm no one's heard of.

It's the synergy of the combined efforts that makes it work. This article discusses an example of how things can go WRONG.
