SOTU mentions housing!

President Obama’s State of the Union address touched briefly on housing issues. With a focus on “middle class economics”, it was inevitable that we would hear about homeownership rather than rental housing. He mentioned lower mortgage premiums – a reference to the recently-released policy to lower fees paid by homebuyers on FHA mortgage insurance. He also mentioned protecting consumers against predatory lending – an indirect reference to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Perhaps not the in-depth discussion we housers all dream of – but several references is far more than we usually hear.
