State Department Warns Immigrants of Lottery Scam

The Office of Visa Services for the State Department of the U.S. has issued an alert regarding a huge uptick in fraudulent e-mails and letters sent to visa lottery applicants under the Diversity Immigrant Visa program.

The scammers are typically seeking payment for “final processing” or some other kind of bogus service in connection with the visa application. Some promise immediate delivery of a “Green card” in exchange for a large fee.
