November 3, 2012 is the final day for entering the annual Diversity Visa Lottery, which grants a permanent resident card (aka, a “green” card) to 55,000 natives of designated foreign countries deemed to have low rates of immigration to the U.S.

Entries can be made online via the State Department’s Web page, and registration is free.

In order to apply, you must have the proper educational and work experience requirements. Applicants must have a high school diploma or proof of an equivalent K through 12 education, as well as at least two years of work experience within the past five years in a job that requires such work experience and training.
