U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) announced an adjustment in filing fees required for most immigration application and petitions. The new fee schedule will go into effect December 23, 2016.

The announcement marks the first time that filing fees have been raised since 2010. Overall, the fees will increase by an average of 21%. The changes will impact employers that sponsor employment-based temporary foreign workers and green card beneficiaries. In particular, the I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker form fee will jump from $325 to $460 and the I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker from $580 to $800 per application.
