The Nursing Home Medicaid Minefield - Part I of III

This article, in three parts, explains Medicaid law as it applies to nursing home coverage. In 2006, as part of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA), the laws changed dramatically, and I find that many people still are not informed.

Part I explains the basics of nursing home Medicaid law in New York. Part II details how transfers of property (gifts) are now treated. The last part highlights tools that can be used even if no advance planning took place.

I believe the article will give you a better understanding of this often misunderstood area. If you have any questions or I can be of assistance. please feel free to contact me.
