Despite a worsening economy, law firms are still raising rates. More than 70 percent of law firms raised hourly billing rates in 2008. Altman Weil consultant, Pam Woldow, suggests that clients will look to flexible staffing, in-house hiring, alternative fees and more robust negotiations with outside counsel to control costs.
