OpenAI pushes out CEO Sam Altman – “Mr. Altman’s departure follows a deliberative review process by the board, which concluded that he was not consistently candid in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities.” Then OpenAI made an attempt to get him back in the fold before talks fell apart and Microsoft hired Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman to lead a “new advanced AI research team.”

Customized GPTs for specific use cases and GPT Store – “OpenAI is promising to eventually pay creators an unspecified amount based on how much their GPTs are used.”

StabilityAI, Midjourney copyright lawsuit pared down – “”Even Stability recognizes that determination of the truth of these allegations – whether copying in violation of the Copyright Act occurred in the context of training Stable Diffusion or occurs when Stable Diffusion is run – cannot be resolved at this juncture,” [District Judge William] Orrick said.”

Multimodal LLMs are redefining human-computer interactions – “These cutting-edge models extend beyond the conventional text-based interfaces, heralding a new era where AI understands and generates content across a spectrum of formats including text, images, audio, and video.”

AI wearable pin – Humane AI has announced an AI wearable (pin) that attaches to clothing and provides a number of AI-powered digital assistant features. But in order to be successful it needs to overcome hurdles including its high price, a lack of features that may prevent it from effectively replacing smartphones, and initial limitations of its AI capabilities.
