As we reported last summer, North Carolina's largest employers soon will be required to use the federal E-Verify program to determine whether new hires are eligible to work in the United States. Employers that employ 500 or more employees must be in compliance with the state's E-Verify law by October 1, 2012. By January 1, 2013, employers that employ 100 or more employees must be in compliance. Employers of 25 or more employees have until July 1, 2013 to comply.

For more information, see E-Verify Law Signed by Governor Perdue.

Please contact Travis Hockaday with any questions.
