California enacted several bills that require changes to Employee Handbooks before the end of the year. The areas which may require revision include:
- Paid Sick Leave (or PTO policies)
- Reproductive Loss Leave
- Any Non-Competition Policies
- Workplace Violence Prevention Policy
- Changes related to increase in minimum wage and salary threshold for exempt employees
- Dealing the NLRB’s Stericycle decision (reviewing provisions that may have a reasonable tendency to dissuade workers from engaging in concerted activity)
With the end of the year approaching, we encourage companies to get started on revising their Handbooks now.
