The Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Services Division (VETS) has again extended the deadline for applicable federal contractors to file a VETS 100/VETS 100A report. VETS recently issued a special announcement on its website indicating that the filing deadline had been extended from December 30, 2011 to January 15, 2012. The special announcement states that after January 15, 2012, VETS-100/VETS-100A applications will be removed from public service until further notice.
Additionally, VETS' special announcement encourages federal contractors experiencing difficulty with the online reporting application to mail a paper report to the VETS-100 Service Desk or submit the completed report to the Service Desk via electronic mail. Historically, federal contractors have only been eligible to submit their completed reports via paper copy or electronic mail if their total reporting output is fewer than 10 locations; however, the special announcement states VETS has increased the maximum number of submissions per federal contractor to 30. All paper reports and electronic files must be received at the Service Desk by January 15th to be included in the 2011 filing cycle. Paper reports and electronic copies received by this time will not be considered late. Finally, the special announcement states that federal contracting officers should continue to obligate funds to contracts even if a federal contractor has not filed a VETS-100/VETS-100A report for the 2011 filing cycle because the filing cycle is still open. The announcement directs contracting officers to handle reports submitted for the 2011 filing cycle after January 15, 2012 in accordance with VETS 100/100A regulations.
