No VETS-4212 Filing Requirement for Federal Contractors Who Earn HIRE Vets Medallion Award

Under the president’s new budget, certain federal contractors would not be required to submit a VETS-4212 report in the year following receipt of a HIRE Vets Medallion Award.

Currently, federal contractors and subcontractors with a contract of $150,000 or more are required to report employment data related to veteran hiring. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans (HIRE Vets) Act of 2017 recognizes exemplary veteran employers if they meet the criteria of the HIRE Vets Medallion Award. The HIRE Vets Medallion Award requires employers to report on their hiring, retention, and support of veterans. The award shines a light on organizations that have proven their commitment to hire and retain veterans.

This year’s award, the 2020 HIRE Vets Medallion Award Program, has started accepting applications on the U.S. Department of Labor’s HireVets website. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2020.
