On March 30, 2020, the statewide Stay at Home order took effect in order to further prevent the spread of COVID-19. The order continues until April 29, 2020.

As part of this order, only those businesses deemed “essential” are allowed to operate, gatherings of more than 10 people are banned, and certain facilities are closed to reduce the number of people in public areas. Additionally, North Carolinians are required to stay at home unless they need to leave for an essential reason such as purchasing groceries, buying takeout, working at an “essential” job or visiting a medical office. For any of these activities, social distancing guidelines must be followed.
