California Attorney General Xavier Becerra released the text of the proposed regulations for the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) on Thursday, October 10. The 24 pages of regulations add additional definitions and address requirements for notices to consumers, specifics on what the new CCPA privacy policy must contain, and business practices for handling consumer requests. The text also provides general rules on how to verify requests and clarifies service provider obligations, among other things. Our CCPA team is currently analyzing the guidance in more detail and will provide a further update in the coming days.
