As we reported in our previous Act Now Advisory, on May 22, 2018, Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy signed into law “An Act Concerning Pay Equity” (“Act”). The Act, which prohibits employers from asking candidates about their salary history during the job interview process, takes effect on January 1, 2019. Therefore, Connecticut employers must review and, if necessary, revise their employment applications by January 1 to ensure that they do not run afoul of the Act by seeking a candidate’s salary history.

DISCLAIMER: Because of the generality of this update, the information provided herein may not be applicable in all situations and should not be acted upon without specific legal advice based on particular situations.
