The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently issued its annual procurement scorecard showing how well federal agencies fared in Fiscal Year 2019 with respect to their small business and socio-economic prime contracting and subcontracting goals.

Of note, the SBA reports that 26.50% (or $132.9 billion) of the total federal contracting dollars spent by the government in Fiscal Year 2019 went to small businesses. This percentage exceeded the government-wide small-business contracting goal of 23% for Fiscal Year 2019.

The SBA’s report also shows that the government exceeded its 2019 goals for Woman-Owned Small Businesses, Small Disadvantaged Businesses, Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Businesses, and HUBZone businesses, as follows:

The SBA works with each federal agency to set their respective annual prime and subcontracting goals, and their annual grades are based on the agreed upon goals. The SBA notes that it “ensures that the sum total of all of the goals meets the 23 percent target for the federal government as well as the socio-economic goals established by statute.”
