In late 2018, Y Combinator released new forms of Simple Agreements for Future Equity (Safes) that were significantly different from the initial forms created in 2013. With the release of the updated Safes, many founders have been left wondering exactly what changed and how Safes work overall. In response, we created a simple, high-level guide for founders to quickly get up to speed on the forms, including the more recent changes and other important provisions that are critical to understand.
