Attorneys Eric Crusius, Amy Fuentes, Kelsey Hayes and Vijaya Surampudi co-authored an article describing the major issues they expect government contracting professionals to face in the coming year. For example, the Department of Defense's launch of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program means all contractors will have to be certified by a third-party auditor. The authors advise that contractors become familiar with the different requirements for each level of certification, and they anticipate that debates about whether a business has the appropriate certification level will arise. Other issues addressed include the implications of the Small Business Runway Extension Act and updated counterfeit reporting requirements from the Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council.
