Maybe Not as Cool as a Taylor Swift Poster, But This New EEOC Poster Is Required

A familiar sight behind the scenes at many employers is the mandatory publication that describes employee rights and remedies under various federal statutes. The EEOC has a new version of the poster entitled “Know Your Rights:  Workplace Discrimination is Illegal.” The new version uses “plain language and bullet points” to hopefully make the laws easier to understand. The new poster also has a QR code that can be scanned on a phone to provide more detail.

As anyone who has been through an EEOC charge process knows, the EEOC will ask employers whether the poster is hung in a “conspicuous location.”  Employers are also encouraged to put a digital notice on their websites. Several free printable versions of the new poster are available on the EEOC website.
