The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) recently sent approximately 1,000 notices to government contractors and subcontractors to inform them that they may be subject to an audit of their affirmative action programs (AAPs). The notices, called Courtesy Scheduling Announcement Letters (CSALs), are dated February 1, 2018, and are intended to provide advance notice to contractors of upcoming audits. The last major round of CSALs went out in February 2017. Although a CSAL does not commence an audit, we strongly recommend that any company that has received a CSAL prepare as though their affirmative action and employment practices are going to be audited in the coming months. Even if a contractor does not receive a CSAL, the OFCCP may still select that contractor for audit without advance notice.
