MEMO TO MANAGERS
The Weakest Links
We communicate frequently about the ethics and compliance risks employees and managers face, and what can be done to reduce those risks. Most of our emphasis is on our own actions. However, some of the greatest risks we face are caused by the actions of those who are not company employees. Suppliers, agents, consultants and contract employees can all expose companies to risk.
Q & A

Q: I work with a lot of our suppliers here and overseas. I believe one of our suppliers is subcontracting out our work to firms that we know very little about and I’m concerned that the subs may not be meeting our quality and ethics standards.  What should I do?

A: Our business partners are an extension of our company, so it is important that we are certain those suppliers are operating in a manner consistent with our standards. If one of our vetted suppliers is subcontracting work they’re doing for us to firms we haven’t vetted, this is indeed a problem. You should report your concerns immediately.
