Overview

Multinational employers are subject to a host of differing employment laws, regulations and court decisions in various countries. In the past year, we noted a number of changes in global employment law in various countries that multinational employers should be sure to review. As a resource to our clients, the Labour and Employment team at K&L Gates has summarised key law changes of the past year affecting employers in 2012 in certain key countries in which we are located. This publication provides the global perspective to complement our earlier work outlining key changes in employment law in the United States.

Europe and Middle East

The effects of the global economic contraction and the Eurozone debt issues have proven a strong point of leverage for a series of employer-friendly changes to employment law in key countries across the European Union. However, from a U.S. perspective, employment laws in Europe remain significantly weighted in favor of employees and unions. We have summarised key changes in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Poland below.
