Last week, we reported on the District of Columbia’s newly-announced requirement that certain indoor facilities verify that patrons, ages 12 and over, are vaccinated against COVID-19. Here’s some additional information that you should know.
- The requirement applies to a covered facility’s guests, visitors, and customers who are 12 years of age and over, but not to its employees.
- The requirement goes into effect in phases. Beginning on January 15, 2022, patrons must show proof that they’ve received one dose of the vaccination. Beginning on February 15, 2022, they must show proof that they’ve been fully vaccinated.
- Beginning on January 15, 2022, covered facilities must prominently post signs at their entrance, notifying the public of the vaccination entry requirement. DC has published a sample advisory notice that facilities may use for that purpose.
- According to the District, the following forms of proof are acceptable:
- a physical Center for Disease Control (CDC) vaccination card;
- A digital copy/photo of a CDC vaccination card; and
- a COVID-19 verification app such as VaxYes or CLEAR.
