The CFPB will hold a public field hearing and panel discussion on credit reporting on July 16 at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The hearing appears to coincide with the CFPB’s anticipated release of the final “larger participant” rule, which must be issued no later than July 21.

Earlier this year, the CFPB issued a proposed rule defining the minimum size of credit bureaus, debt buyers, and debt collectors that it will supervise and examine. We published a blog about the proposed rule on February 16 and we issued a legal alert on the issue on February 21.

The Detroit hearing will be opened at 11 a.m. by CFPB Director Richard Cordray, followed by a panel discussion with consumer groups, academics, and industry experts moderated by Deputy Director Raj Date.

The event is open to the public and requires an RSVP. Click here for more information.
