The Arkansas Department of Energy & Environment – Division of Environmental Quality (“DEQ”) Energy Office (“AEO”) provided a December 8th update on its development of a new version of the Arkansas Energy Code.

AEO states that the new version of the Arkansas Energy Code being developed will be based on the 2018 IECC with state amendments.

The AEO is a component of the Arkansas Department of Energy & Environment – Division of Environmental Quality whose charge is to promote:

. . . energy efficiency, clean technology and sustainable strategies that encourage economic development, energy security, and environmental well-being for all businesses, communities, and residents. . .

The above is accomplished through various:

  • Assistance programs
  • Energy initiatives
  • Funding opportunities
  • Outreach and training

AEO has held a number of stakeholder meetings intended to obtain input regarding potential amendments to the Arkansas Energy Code.

Certain Arkansas amendments are reflected in the Arkansas Energy Code.
