On May 8, 2023, ASAS Health, LLC (“ASAS”) filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Maine after determining that a security incident earlier this year compromised the confidential information of over 25,000 individuals. Based on the company’s official filing, the incident resulted in an unauthorized party gaining access to consumers’ names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses, driver’s license numbers, protected health information and financial account information. After confirming that consumer data was leaked, ASAS began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals who were impacted by the recent data security incident.

What We Know So Far About the ASAS Health Breach

News of the ASAS Health data breach is still fresh; however, what we know at this point comes from the company’s filing with the Attorney General of Maine. According to this source, on March 9, 2023, ASAS detected suspicious activity within its computer system. The company’s immediate investigation revealed that an unauthorized party had gained access to its computer network. Once ASAS confirmed unauthorized access, it then began working with a team of cybersecurity professionals to learn more about the nature and scope of the incident.

The ASAS investigation confirmed that one or more parties were able to access certain files on the company’s network. It was also determined that some of the files that were accessible to the unauthorized party contained confidential information belonging to certain individuals.

Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data was made available to an unauthorized party, ASAS Health began to review the affected files to determine what information was compromised and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, date of birth, Social Security number, address, driver’s license number, protected health information and financial account information.

On May 8, 20223, ASAS Health sent out data breach letters to all individuals whose information was compromised as a result of the recent data security incident.
