Beaver Medical Group Files Notice of Data Breach Leaking Patient’s PHI

On March 8, 2023, Beaver Medical Group (“BMG”) filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of California after discovering that a successful email phishing attack provided an unauthorized party with access to files containing confidential patient information. Based on the company’s official filing, the incident resulted in an unauthorized party gaining access to consumers’ names, member ID numbers, health plan names and premium payment amounts. After confirming that consumer data was leaked, BMG began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals who were impacted by the recent data security incident.
