Report on Supply Chain Compliance 2, no. 23 (December 12, 2019)
A pilot project to trace cotton from farm to consumer has been deemed successful by the stakeholders involved. Fashion for Good, PVH Corp, C&A Foundation & Organic Cotton Accelerator, Bext 360 and Zalando announced their results recently, stating that:
The success of the Organic Cotton Traceability pilot provides a positive impulse towards traceability and transparency in the value chain. We’ve gathered sufficient insights and evidence to support the case, in terms of technical as well as operational viability, for the wider implementation of the process in the organic cotton industry. In addition, the process shows enormous potential for further expansion to include other fibers in the fashion supply chain.[1]
The collaboration is one among many similar projects that have utilized the ledger technology to increase oversight into deep and complex supply chains, streamline supply chain operations and help companies ensure compliance with a host of regulations that govern supply chains as they move across borders
