What Caused the Bridgeway Center Data Breach?

The Bridgeway Center data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Bridgeway’s filing with the Attorney General of Maine provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, on February 22, 2024, Bridgeway detected suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, Bridgeway secured its network and then began working with third-party cybersecurity specialists to conduct an investigation.

As a result of this investigation, on March 18, 2024, Bridgeway confirmed that an unauthorized party had been able to access its network between February 21, 2024 and February 23, 2024, including files containing confidential consumer information.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Bridgeway Center reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. Bridgeway completed this process on April 22, 2024. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, driver's license number, military identification number, date of birth, and medical information.

On May 8, 2024, Bridgeway Center sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
