In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Secretaries of State for California and Nevada have announced shut-down of their counter filing services.

California Secretary of State Alex Padilla has closed counter service in Sacramento but is keeping the Los Angeles office open with limited staff for processing apostilles and domestic partnership agreements. Only two customers will be served at a time, with others waiting another floor. Anyone with questions about business filings can contact the Business Programs Division staff at (916) 657-5448. The Secretary of State’s online business filing tools are available at bizfile.sos.ca.gov.

Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske has closed the office to the public. Filings may still be made online using www.silverflume.gov. The Secretary of State will also accept commercial filings by mail, fax or email. More information is available here.
