Costa Rica: COVID-19 New extension to restrictions to enter the country and vehicle restriction

On May 29, 2020, the Government of Costa Rica announced the extension of entry measures to the country. The borders will now remain closed through June 30, 2020. This extension applies to air, sea, and land borders.

Only Costa Rican citizens and residents (who have left the country before March 25) will be able to enter Costa Rica.

Costa Rican citizens and Costa Rican residents who re-enter the country must carry out preventive isolation for 14 days. The Immigration Police has been authorized as the competent authority to notify the health order once the person enters the country.

Moreover, on May 29, 2020, the Government announced that the vehicle restriction measures are maintained. These measures will apply from June 1, 2020, through June 19, 2020.

From June 1 through June 19, the daytime vehicle restriction will apply from 5 a.m. through 10 p.m., according to the license plate number. From June 1 to June 19, night-time vehicle transit is restricted, with some limited exceptions.
