Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser recently extended the public health emergency in DC through October 9, 2020. The effective periods for many of the provisions in DC’s COVID-19 emergency legislation are tied to the public health emergency period, so this extension extends the duration of the eviction moratorium, rent payment plan, rent freeze, and mortgage relief. Similarly, certain TOPA deadlines applicable to tenants and tenant organizations have been extended.
Comprehensive information on this and other COVID-19-related provisions in the DC area can be found in this chart. The chart includes up-to-date information for the DC Metro area, including Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties in Maryland, Fairfax and Arlington Counties in Virginia, and the District itself.
