In the construction industry, resilience generally refers to a building’s or infrastructure element’s ability to avoid, mitigate, absorb, or recover from physically destructive events, with an eye toward overall longevity.

This seminar will address the importance that resiliency plays in modern construction design in South Florida through two panel programs: one on the evolution of resilience metrics in the insurance industry and the other on a case study of resilience planning for the city of Miami Beach.

We will be joined by Maria Hernandez, program director of the General Obligation (G.O.) Bond Program for the city of Miami Beach; Amy Knowles, chief resilience officer for the city of Miami Beach; and Jeremy Miller, area senior vice president at Gallagher, for discussion on these timely topics.

A reception will follow the panel programs to allow for networking among fellow attendees.
