Fairfax County, Virginia, is taking proactive steps to facilitate additional affordable housing options in the area.

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) recently announced the availability of local, state and federal funds from a variety of sources to support the development and preservation of affordable housing in the county. More than $18.7 million is now available for multifamily affordable housing development projects, with further federal funding anticipated.

The county will select fund recipients through a competitive request for proposals process, based on the eligibility and use requirements designated by the originating fund. It will accept applications on a rolling basis through June 30, 2022, or until all of the fiscal year 2022 funding has been committed. FCRHA will host a pre-application conference on Aug. 12, 2021. To register for the conference, send an email to rha@fairfaxcounty.gov by Aug. 6, 2021.

Additional details are available on the Fairfax County Housing and Community Development website.
